Cameras for Charity
PhotoVoice's Cameras for Charity scheme can find a home for any fully functioning digital camera or medium/ standard format studio equipment you no longer need.
This scheme has made an essential contribution to the work of PhotoVoice, and generous donations of equipment and film have enabled us to run participatory photography workshops around the world as well as providing smaller organisations and groups with the equipment to facilitate their own projects.
Organisations that have recently benefitted from PhotoVoice's Cameras for Charity
Refocus put digtial cameras from the Cameras for Charity scheme to good use this summer in their Syria Project. The vision was to set up and conduct photography workshops for Palestinian adolescents, teach them skills, provide them with cameras, and let them express themselves and their lives through photography. For the first time last summer ZOV ran a project in partnership with Veliko
Turnovo University to provide a week of outreach activities for children from Penyo and Maria’s children’s home. This year the afternoon activities are being based around a photography programme using digital cameras provided by PhotoVoice from the Cameras for Charity Scheme. The programme aims to allow these children, that constantly battle the stigma of being in a home, to represent themselves as they want to be seen and comment on their situation while providing a fun activity that compliments the morning workshops and allows the children time to reflect on the issues raised in a creative and open environment. Because of the varying demands of each project, and of each individual within the projects, we can make use of a wide variety of equipment.
