Sifundo on writing
Poetry is everywhere; in your favourite song lyrics, in the slang you speak, the phrases that make you laugh, slogans from your favourite ads, the text in magazines, books and comics. Open your eyes and ears and fill them with the things that move you to pick up a pen or speak your story.
Sifundo on media representation of young people
‘Dis-affected’, ‘dis-illusioned’ are the words we often see in black and white, but the reality is that young people who are doing ok or more than ok are not headline news. Young people are so often disrespected and dissed before they've had a chance to prove who they are.
