"Chair"

This participatory photographic project, supported by PhotoVoice and Barchester Health Care, was a two-month effort to consider the lives of two residents of one of the care homes in London.
“Chair” has been an inseparable part of their lives for some time and they are trying to express to us how it feels through their photographs.
Between October and November 2005, John (23) and Henry (39), residents of the care home in London, drove their “chairs” armed with cameras, having fun trying to document their surroundings. They were both inspired by artist Frida Khalo, whose exhibition they had a chance to see at the beginning of October.
After attending workshops on basic photographic techniques, self-discipline, effort and tones of imagination they managed to produce fascinating photographs of their lives.
