PhotoVoice is delighted to announce the relaunch of its network for practitioners of participatory photography. With a new and sophisticated online web2.0 forum supplied by web content management experts Ektron going live in September, the PhotoVoice Network will provide a centralised area for all those involved in using photography as a tool for development to share resources and information, discuss issues and develop clear best-practice guidelines to maximise the potential of this growing and versatile medium. Network members will also be able to showcase their projects on the PhotoVoice website, so that at last there is a central hub for information about all the varied work being done in this exciting and vibrant field. With all roads leading to China currently, PhotoVoice is delighted to announce a new phase of its project working with blind and partially-sighted people. With the aid of a generous Discretionary Donation from Schroders plc, PhotoVoice, working in partnership with Sight of Emotion, will train up six facilitators in London (three of whom will be blind or visually impaired) before starting in-country workshops with participants in China. Subject to funding PhotoVoice hopes to undertake further workshops in selected countries in Africa, South Asia and Latin America. Working with local partners, PhotoVoice and Sight of Emotion will then carry out a range of awareness-raising activities focused on blind and disability rights and increasing awareness of Vision 2020 - a global initiative for the elimination of avoidable blindness launched by the World Health Organisation and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.
