  UR in the Picture Exhibition

PhotoVoice, in partnership with United Response, has been running photography workshops with mental health service users in West Sussex over the past few months. The results have been fantastic, and on Monday 27th April an exhibition showcasing some of the work was launched at DJ’s (formerly Paradise Med), 71 High Street, Bognor Regis. Visitors braved the rain to pack out the venue for the launch, which was attended by many of the photographers whose work is on show.

The project will result in a larger exhibition at the OXO Gallery on Southbank, London running from 6-12th July, and a new title in the PhotoVoice Methodology Series focusing on photography as a therapeutic tool for mental health service users.

Beyond Vision Exhibition

Photographs by street-involved children in Ecuador trained by PhotoVoice through the Beyond Vision project went on display at the offices of Insight Investment at the beginning of April. Insight Investment have generously funded the Beyond Vision project for three years, and the young people generated work for the exhibition that explored the ‘hidden beauty’ of nature surviving amidst the urban jungle of Guyaquil.

_ Sights Unseen Project Begins

PhotoVoice, in partnership with Mexican NGO Sight of Emotion, has launched the first phase of a new project working with blind and visually impaired people. Workshops in South London began on the 21st April, training users of services at OBAC (Organisation of Blind African and Caribbeans) in how to use digital cameras as a tool for creative expression and communication. Workshops were led by a team of PhotoVoice facilitators, including several participants from 2007 project with blind and visually impaired people in the UK, Beyond Sight.
