China, Portrait Of A Country

As part of PhotoVoice’s popular Lecture Series, on the

23rd of November, Pulitzer Prize winner and long-time

Associated Press correspondent Liu Heung Shing,

discussed his own photography work and recently

published book China: Portrait of a Country containing a China, Portrait Of A Country: Liu Heung Shing

fascinating collection of images taken by Chinese

Photographers since 1949, which charts a remarkable

visual history of the people’s republic of China. Liu also

kindly carried out a book signing after the lecture.

Guests were also invited to view an accompanying

exhibition of photographs taken by marginalised and

vulnerable groups from around the world, trained in

photojournalism skills by PhotoVoice.

The event was a success, receiving strong reviews from China, Portrait Of A Country: Liu Heung Shing

attendees and raising funds in support of PhotoVoice

projects. 

PhotoVoice is immensely grateful to Liu Heung Shing,

for delivering such an educating and though-provoking

lecture, TASCHEN (who donated 50% of book sales to

PhotoVoice), the guests who joined us for the evening

and to the team of staff and volunteers that helped to

make the event run smoothly.
