PhotoVoice Auction 2006

David Bailey, Peter Beard and Philip Jones Griffiths were among the mighty names from the worlds of art and documentary photography who donated 100 prints for PhotoVoice's Annual Auction held on 21 November 2006 at Reuters, London.
The Auction was a tremendous success, raising £71,639 in total. All the money raised will be used to further existing PhotoVoice projects, in particular Youth Photo-Reflect, a project working with children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa.
Among this year’s contributors were Alison Jackson, Barry Lategan, Homer Sykes, James Nachtwey, Jane Bown, Jillian Edelstein, Marc Riboud, Nadav Kander, Nick Danziger, Paolo Roversi, Sarah Moon, Tony McGee and Yann Arthus-Bertrand .
Particularly compelling was Finbarr O’Reilly’s World Press Photo of the Year 2005, donated by Reuters. Reuters Chairman, Niall FitzGerald said, "Rarely is there an opportunity to bring the work of so many exceptional photographers under one roof. Reuters is proud to host an event of this calibre for a cause we strongly support."
Nick Danziger also be spoke at the event. He said, “As a photographer, writer and documentary film maker I have been drawn to the tremendous work of PhotoVoice which puts cameras in the hands of some of the world’s most marginalised and vulnerable men, women and children so they are empowered to express themselves, gain confidence and hopefully change their lives for the better.”
