Recent media coverage of British youth has focused on murder, violence, drugs, and gang related crimes. PhotoVoice’s LOOKOUT project enabled young people to speak out out through photography and other multimedia to share their side of the story, proving their ability to positively contribute to the discussion of youth stereotypes.
The evening’s guests were treated to an exhibition of images created on the project as well as a screening of a selection of digital stories. The project resource for practitioners was also unveiled alongside the bespoke website that holds image portfolio’s, digital stories and all the practitioners resources and factsheets.
The Lookout Youth Slam brought creativity, energy and important youth perspectives to East London, on Saturday 28th September, which provided opportunities for young people to discover new ways to speak out and feed into debates from which they are often excluded.
On Thursday 17th October we will be celebrating the HAST project. Young people explore and represent their experiences and perspectives on sexual exploitation through photography and digital story telling.
Lookout has been busy this summer with the Lookout Glasgow Exhibition Launch on Tues 30th July and Free Drop-in Photo workshops in Glasgow and London
