Chair appointed 1/6/2010
Howard Sharman(Development and Business) appointed Trustee 28/4/09,
Howard is managing director of ERD Associates, a communications consultancy that works with environmental, renewable energy and development organisations.  He worked in business publishing for more than 30 years as a journalist, editor and publisher.  Most of that time was spent with Centaur Media, where he was involved with print titles like Marketing Week and Creative Review and with many of Centaur’s online, exhibition and conference businesses.  He ran the company’s M&A activities and its external and internal communications from 2004-07.  He has an MSc from UCL in Environment & Sustainable Development

Treasurer
David Membrey (Finanace) appointed Trustee 21/5/07
David is the Deputy Chief Executive of the Charity Finance Directors’ Group - a membership body that provides training, networking and policy support to over 1,600 charity finance professionals. He has particular responsibility for relations with corporate partners and with the top 300 charities as well as having responsibility for the finances. He has been in this post for five years and previously he was Deputy Director of Book Aid International - an overseas development charity that worked mainly in sub-Saharan Africa. David is also a Trustee of CITRA (the Charity IT Resource Alliance) which is a part of Socitm (the Society of Information Technology Management).

Jassim Ahmad (New Media and IT) appointed Trustee 28/4/09
Jassim is Head of Visual Projects at the Reuters international news agency, with responsibility for high-impact storytelling spanning multimedia, book publishing, public installations and other visual communications. He has produced Reuters books published by Thames & Hudson in 10 languages including The State of the World, collector’s series Our World Now and bestseller Sport in the 21st Century. Jassim has executed award-winning multimedia projects including Times of Crisis and Emmy-nominated Bearing Witness, and exhibitions in some 50 international locations.

David Constantine (Development & Disability) appointed Trustee 30/7/08
David is Co-Founder and Executive Officer of Motivation UK, a registered charity which works in partnership with a range of organisations to create sustainable projects to enhance the quality of life of people with mobility disabilities in developing countries. Since 1991 Motivation has worked in 34 countries. It is one of the few organisations to deal with both the provision of disability products and services and the wider social and economic needs of people with mobility disabilities. David is also a travel photographer whose work has been exhibited throughout the UK and USA

Ronnie Graham (Legal and EU advisor) appointed Trustee 27/2/02
Ronnie works as a solicitor at civil liberties firm Birnberg Peirce & Partners and has an active interest in human rights law and the Middle East. His interest in PhotoVoice’s work started with the initial projects, the Rose Class in Nepal and Street Vision in Vietnam. This first contact was made through Anna and Tiffany on an undergraduate course in development studies. Ronnie says,

‘I’ve witnessed with enthusiasm the growth of PhotoVoice into an organisation with several talents and many viable paths of future growth while being part of the board of trustees. I greatly enjoy working with the inspiring people who are involved in building this organisation - which is in itself, I think remarkable and important.’

Caroline Haworth MA MBA (Developemt) appointed Trustee 29/4/08
Caroline works in health and international development, specialising in sexual and reproductive health & rights and HIV and AIDS. She works throughout Africa and South Asia on programmes in the public, civil society and private sectors supporting developing countries to increase the impact of their health programmes and reduce vulnerability to HIV and AIDS. Caroline has a longstanding interest in arts and media and worked in current affairs television on programmes for the BBC and Channel 4, early in her career. Caroline is Director of Futures Group Europe.

Jane Kellas (Fundraising)appointed Trustee 1/11/04
Jane is a highly experienced fundraiser, having previously headed up the fundraising team for MS Trust, Interact Worldwide and Mencap and is now working with UNICEF. Jane also runs her own fair-trade jewellery company, Silverchilli

Marc Schlossman(Photographer)appointed Trustee 27/2/02
Marc is an experienced and successful freelance photographer and is also the co-founder of the photographic studio and gallery – Framezero. Marc has been a trustee of PhotoVoice since its registration as a charity in 2002 and has himself run a number of participatory photography projects under the banner of ‘Inside Eye.’ He published a book on his project in Wandsworth prison.

Oliver s’Jacob (Legal) appointed 29/5/10
Oliver is a qualified solicitor and works at the international law firm, Reed Smith LLP, where he is a partner.  Although specialising in corporate and investment funds work, Oliver also helps a number of charitable organisations and foundations with legal advice, usually on a pro bono basis. A keen amateur photographer in his spare time, he was attracted to PhotoVoice by the opportunity to combine this interest in photography with his ongoing charity work.  Oliver is also a trustee and company secretary of the Chelsea Estates Youth Project, a youth services charity based in South West London.

Sue Steward (Photography and Communications) appointed Trustee 28/4/09
Sue is a journalist, radio broadcaster and photo-editor with an exceptionally diverse background in publishing, editing, writing, photo-editing, radio, and TV documentary production. Her focus is Photography and World Music. Photography Critic for The Evening Standard, and a feature-writer for The Telegraph, Observer, Guardian and specialist magazines including Eye (Photography & Design), British Journal of Photography, Wire and Songlines (World Music). In radio, she is Arts Correspondent for British Airways’ Highlife channel; Photography Critic for BBC Radio 2’s Claudia Winkleman show, and a regular Reviewer for BBC Radio 3’s World Routes.  Books include Salsa: Musical Heartbeat of Latin America and Rough Guide to Latin Music. Sue is a founder member of the (Sony) World Photography Awards, a judge, curator and organizer, and for the 2010 event in April in Cannes is central to the international Student Focus.

PATRONS
Sarah Moon since 2006
Texture, surface, seeing, believing, dreaming, it is difficult to summarise Sarah Moon’s fantastical photography which after almost thirty years of image-making has made Sarah a legend in her own lifetime.
Working extensively in photography and film, Sarah has been exhibiting worldwide since 1982. She has published over a dozen books and is also a celebrated filmmaker. Some of her distinctions and honours include a Clio Award, the Lion D’Or for two consecutive years, Grand Prix de la Photographie and the American Society of Media Photographer’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Photography.

Nick Danziger since 2009
Initially an ambitious artist, Nick began taking photographs to accompany the diaries he kept on his travels. His images have since appeared in newspapers and magazines worldwide, toured museums and galleries internationally, and are held in numerous museum collections including the National Portrait Gallery in London.

Nick has won several prestigious awards, including an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal Photographic Society, and he is holder of the Royal Geographical Society’s Ness Award in recognition of raising public understanding of contemporary social, political and environmental issues through documentary films and photography. More recent photography projects have included a study of the impact of armed conflict on women and travel to eight of the world’s poorest countries to meet individuals living in extreme poverty.

FOUNDERS/ADVISORS
Anna Blackman
Anna left PhotoVoice in 2008 to accept a scolarship from the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Oxford University and graduated in 2009 with an MBA. She is now working as a social enterprise development consultant in the UK.
Tiffany Fairey
Tiffany has been involved in over 40 participatory photography projects as a manager, facilitator, trainer and researcher. She left PhotoVoice in 2009 and is pursuing PhD research focusing on photography as a tool for empowerment. 

STAFF
Matt Daw - Projects Manager
Matt joined PhotoVoice in 2006, following several years of freelance photography and voluntary work in the international development sector. He has designed and managed numerous PhotoVoice projects, and takes responsibility for PhotoVoice’s exhibitions, publications, bursary scheme, commercial image sales and the PhotoVoice Network.

Dominique Green - Managing Director (4 days per week)
Dominique joined PhotoVoice in January 2009 from the position of Managing Director of Magnum Photos, London and a background of creative and business affairs in the film Industry. She is responsible for the overall strategic and organisational direction of the charity.

Katherine Howells - Events & Corporate Fundraising Manager
Kat joined PhotoVoice in April 2008 has been working in the arts and creative industry for 7 years. She is responsible for the organisations’ corporate and individual fundraising and manages the charity’s events including the PhotoVoice Lecture Series, Auction of Exceptional Photographs and exhibitions and art fairs.

Jane Martin - Programme Manager
Jane joined PhotoVoice in May 2009. She has a combined 20 years experience in arts and international development and an MA in Theatre and Media for Development. She is responsible for designing, developing and overseeing the management of the programme of projects and consultancy work is part of the senior management team. 

Nic Pursey - Institutional Support (3 days per week)
Nic has 15 years’ experience working with institutional donors and is responsible for all aspects of PhotoVoice’s institutional funding – grants from government, trusts and foundations, and companies. He is part of the senior management team. 

Silvie Wallington - Office Administrator
Silvie’s background in the arts and interest in photography and international development inspired her to undertake an internship in the PhotoVoice office in 2009, from which she progressed to the full time position of Office Administrator where her responsibilities include supporting PhotoVoice’s projects and fundraising activities.
